For the last 5-10 years, Hamptonites have been migrating upstate alongside the city’s tastemakers. These three galleries lead the way, as we transition away from the mass-market model and trim the fat to REVEAL a new Art Fair for like-minded collectors in the Contemporary market."

Inspired by Warhol’s sense of coloration, Russell Young is unmatched in his ability to compose alluring renderings of figures who are emblematic of the qualities that initially attracted him to the art world. In his most recent series inspired by the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Audrey Hepburn’s portrait symbolizes formidable intelligence, timeless beauty and lavish glamour in one-of-a-kind “Tiffany Blue” and "New York White" pigments printed over acrylic backgrounds.

A recent surge of interest in Invader’s work can be attributed to the playfulness and nostalgia embedded in his work, which attests to his objective of “leaving a print not only on the streets but also on the minds.” The intention of permanency demanded by the technical application of Invader’s street mosaics allows for a concrete connection between his arcade-utopia and reality, literally invading our space with his creations and perpetually altering its form.
Taglialatella artist, Swoon, in the News: Completely consuming the space of the Zaha Hadid-designed Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, “The Canyon” recalls the celebrated street artist’s beginnings as a guerrilla artist New York. “Art is an attempt to try and understand our own contemporary situation through making images that are completely personal, while also addressing our social context.” -Robert Longo
The Brooklyn born artist, Robert Longo (b. 1953), a key figure in the Pictures Generation movement in New York in the late seventies and early eighties, is known for the powerful images he produces which are often engaged with political, environmental and social issues. Since the beginning of Longo’s artistic career he has successfully sparked the collective imagination with imagery that speaks to the specific historical moment in which it was created. Although a summary of Robert Longo’s richly complex and expansive body of work that he has created throughout his lifetime goes far beyond five basic facts, here are the key elements of this significantly influential artist’s professional timeline that we hope will shed light on theoretical gears at work in his aesthetic project.
Considering the people whose portraits Nancy Ellison has shot, it’s no surprise that she has a fund of stories to tell. Sting. Sharon Stone. Jack Nicholson. Mick Jagger. Grace Jones. They’re not all in Nancy Ellison: Nancy - Off Color, the show with which Taglialatella Galleries will celebrate the grand opening Thursday through Jan. 17 of Taglialatella Galleries Due, its new second space in Via Bice. Whether or not the subjects are juicy, the stories always are.
Last month, Taglialatella Galleries hosted an opening reception at its flagship New York City location for Burton Morris’ “Painting Playboy,” the latest in the artist’s Icon Series. “Usually my message has been based on what is going on in pop culture,” the artist told Playboy ahead of the exhibition’s opening.
The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Playboy is likely naked ladies, not art. But the magazine’s historical ties to the art world—specifically within the realm of pop art—are actually quite rich, with artists from Keith Haring and James Rosenquist to Patrick Nagel and Salvadore Dalí (who once posed for the rag in 1973) having created work for Playboy‘s pages. Founder Hugh Hefner, who passed away in September, was a cartoonist himself before launching his empire in 1953, and Art Paul, Playboy’s founding art director and the man behind the iconic bunny logo, commissioned tons of illustrators and artists to contribute works to the publication throughout his 30-year career. Now, Playboy, currently helmed by Hefner’s son, Cooper, can add another artist collaboration to its roster: Burton Morris.
Burton Morris is many things—an American pop artist in the tradition of fellow Pittsburgh native and Carnegie Mellon alum Andy Warhol, a former advertising art director and a lifelong devotee of comic superheroes, which he taught himself to draw at the age of three, when a well-intentioned attempt to imitate Tarzan on the monkey bars put the budding artist in a full-body cast for two and a half months. And come this fall, Morris can add “Playboy artist” to the list. On November 9, the artist will debut an original collection of Playboy-inspired work at Taglialatella gallery in New York City.
