Philippe Katerine: Le Mignonisme

February 26 – March 26, 2026

Press Release Back

New York, NY (February 5, 2026) – For immediate release:

Discover Mignonisme by Philippe Katerine at Taglialatella Galleries in New York City.

This winter, French artist Philippe Katerine brings his artistic movement, Mignonisme and his iconic “Mister Pink” characters to New York City in a multi-part artistic project combining public art, design, and a gallery exhibition. A major figure in contemporary French culture, Katerine is recognized for his singular tone and his ability to move across artistic fields. Singer, actor, director, composer, and visual artist, he draws from everyday life with a playful, poetic sensibility.

In conjunction with Winter Glow and the artist’s LIXIL design collaboration, Taglialatella Galleries is set to unveil a collection of original drawings and a limited edition sculpture by Katerine. The artist was chosen by Winter Glow as part of its annual outdoor public exhibition series, installing monumental Mingnonisme figures around the NoMad and Flatiron districts on January 15th. Bringing fun and a flare of color to the cold, gray tundra of Gotham, Katerine’s Mister Pinkimagery is often associated with “Cute-ism” and garners a minimalist style of drawing transformed into bold sculptural works, invoking sentiments of humor and adventure.

After traveling to six other cities internationally - including Brussels, Montreal, Quebec, and Paris - the larger-than-life Mister Pink figures can be found outdoors at New York City landmarks such as Madison Square Park and flagship businesses including Porcelanosa and the Virgin Hotel, amongst others. City residents might accidentally stumble upon a resin sculpture during their commute, while out-of-town visitors find themselves gazing up at a roof-dwelling inflatable. Anyone can enjoy Mignonisme this winter, whether it’s seeking out a Mister Pink on the Winter Glow map, or discovering them for yourself like a scavenger hunt.

Thursday, February 26th: Taglialatella Galleries invites you to experience Mignonisme at our flagship location in Chelsea, with an opening reception from 6-8 pm at 229 10th Ave. The artist will be in attendance as we celebrate the closing of Winter Glow and the opening of our month-long show. Please RSVP, e-mail info@djtfa.com or call 212-367-0881 for details.
